ABOUT THE CLASS:
Have travel plans and want to use a bag that’s both handmade and secure? Then this class is for you!
Rea Koren will lead the class in making the Gallivanter Passport Wallet by SewGnar and the Gabriella Handbag by The Empurrium. The Gallivanter is large enough to fit a couple of passports, has card slots for a few cards, a large section for currency notes, and zippered section for coins. The Gabriella is one of the best patterns available for travel based on the number of secure and hidden pockets built into the pattern. Rea will show you various customizations you can make to the pattern to make it even more secure, both for travel and everyday use. She will also lead a discussion around travel bags and customizations you can make to almost any pattern to make it suitable for secure travel.
You will receive the patterns via email and will bring pattern pieces cut out to the class. You will also be provided with an additional cut list for customizations you may want to include in your bag. To help select materials and potential customizations, Rea will host a video call in the Facebook group discussing material and customization options in advance of the class. She will also bring examples of the travel bags she’s made to help inspire you and your future makes!
On Day 1, you will make the Gallivanter and start on the Gabriella. Rea will also talk about modifying patterns into travel bags over lunch.
On Day 2, you will continue sewing and finishing the Gabriella.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
You do not need any industrial experience to come to our classes. We will be there to go over the ins and outs of using the machines!
MATERIALS REQUIRED:
You will need to bring all of your materials and hardware precut. Patterns are included in the cost of the class and will be emailed to you.
WHAT WE OFFER WITHIN THE CLASSROOM:
We provide the machines, a wide variety of thread choices, needles, clips, rulers, thread snips, lighters, screw drivers, glue, duct tape, DST, hole punches, rivet presses, ironing station, heat press station.
ACCOMMODATIONS:
The price of the ticket does not include any travel, airfare or rides to and from said locations. These are your responsibility.

OUR GOAL:
Our goal is to provide a stress-free class space to learn bagmaking. We do not want any students to feel rushed or like they weren't able to get their questions answered. CANCELLATION POLICY:
We understand that plans can change! If you need to cancel, we recommend first trying to sell your ticket. If there’s a waitlist, we’re happy to connect you with someone interested—but please note that we cannot facilitate or guarantee any transactions. Alternatively, you may return your ticket for a refund minus a 15% processing fee.
In the event that a class is canceled, the instructor will determine whether it will be rescheduled or refunded. You’ll be notified via email, and updates will also be posted in the class Facebook group.

Medical Conditions
I confirm that I am physically able to participate in the class and will notify the instructor of any conditions that may affect my participation.
